Thousands of students across San Diego are experiencing homelessness while trying to continue their education. Housing instability creates barriers to attendance, academic performance, and long-term opportunity — often placing students at risk of falling behind both inside and outside the classroom.

Universe Foundation works to remove the immediate obstacles that prevent students from remaining connected to school. Through transportation assistance, school supplies, housing resource connections, and direct student support, we help create stability during critical moments of uncertainty.

Consistent access to education is one of the strongest predictors of long-term stability. When students are supported and able to remain engaged in school, they are significantly more likely to graduate, pursue opportunity, and avoid future homelessness or involvement with the criminal justice system.
